Statement by the British Palestinian Committee on Keir Starmer’s resignation
Keir Starmer has announced his decision to step down as prime minister after almost two years in Downing Street. Chief among the many failures that his premiership will be remembered for is the missed opportunity to shift the UK’s approach to Palestine. Rather than charting a principled course grounded in justice, accountability and international law, Starmer’s administration has stubbornly resisted demands to end British complicity in and contribution to Israel’s continued violation of Palestinian lives and rights.
The British Palestinian Committee is an independent organisation of British Palestinians in leading or representative positions across major Palestine-related organisations and constituencies in the UK.
