New Report: “Party to Genocide”: Labour’s First Year in Government
London, 29th September 2025 - The British Palestinian Committee (BPC) publishes our latest report titled "Party to Genocide", a one-year review of Labour government policy towards Palestine, based on the policy framework set out for the incoming Starmer administration in November 2024.
Coinciding with this year’s Labour Party conference, where officials blocked more than 30 Palestine-related motions put forward by party members, and at a time of mounting internal pressure on this leadership, the report provides a timely intervention into public discourse and a sharp compilation of government action - and inaction - over the past year.
While the report notes limited steps taken by the government towards accountability, it argues that “such shifts are notable less for their substance than for their inadequacy in meeting the UK’s obligations and their insignificance in the face of the scale of atrocities in Gaza”, and points out that these steps “have only come about under sustained pressure from nationwide mobilisation and strong criticism of government policy both within Parliament and across civil society.”
BPC reminds the British government of its duties to uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, and calls for the immediate end to all forms of support for Israel, comprehensive sanctions, and support for genuine accountability for decades of violations, including war crimes and crimes against humanity.
